Profile > History & Heritage > Weyburn Court House

Court HouseThe Weyburn Courthouse is one of the most distinctive buildings created by provincial architect Maurice Sharon. Its striking resemblance to the popular Colonial Revival style, inspired by historic reconstruction at Williamsburg, Virginia, expressed Weyburn's close ties with the United States. Built in 1928, the last good harvest year before the depression, the Weyburn Courthouse embodied the region's confident economy as well as an enthusiasm for historical style. Sharon designed the Courthouse to be an architectural landmark befitting the centre of a prosperous, wheat-growing district.
