The City Clerk's Office serves the Corporation of the City of Weyburn and its citizens by carrying out the duties of Corporate Secretary, in accordance with the City Act and other legislation. These duties include preparing and distributing agendas for City Council and committee meetings, recording the deliberations of City Council and its committees, and transmitting to all concerned parties the results of these deliberations.
The City Clerk’s Office also provides for the security and maintenance of the Corporate records (including bylaws, agreements and contracts), and gives access to current and archival records to the Administration. Public administrative support service to Councillors is also provided by this office.
The City Clerk acts as Returning Officer for the conduct of Municipal and School Board elections, as well as voting on any questions or bylaws submitted by either the municipality or the School Boards. Voting is normally held every three years; however, an election could be held at any other time in order to fill a vacancy caused by a resignation, or to vote on a bylaw as a result of a petition from electors.
The City Clerk also provides a link between the general public, the City Administration and City Council.
