The City of Weyburn has a bylaw in place to provide for the control of junked vehicles in the City. "Junked Vehicle" means any automobile, tractor, truck, trailer or other vehicle that:
- has no currently valid license plates attached to it;
- is in a rested, wrecked, partly wrecked, dismantled, partly dismantled, inoperative or abandoned condition; and
- is located on private land, but is not within a structure erected in accordance with any law respecting the erection of buildings and structures in force within the urban municipality in which the land is situated, and that does not form part of a business enterprise lawfully being operated on that land.
Notice is served on the owner or occupant of land who keeps a junked vehicle on the land, to remove said junked vehicle within a time period specified in the notice. The owner or occupant is given an opportunity to show cause why the junked vehicle should not be removed from the land and destroyed or its condition remedied. If the owner or occupant fails to comply with the notice within the time specified by said notice, the owner or occupant is subject to a penalty of $50 for the first violation, $100 for the second violation, and $200 for each subsequent violation. The City of Weyburn may remove the junked vehicle from the land and destroy it, and the cost of some removing and destroying it shall be added to the taxes of the land and buildings.
