Paving contractor for the City of Weyburn’s Government Rd. project advises to finish final paving in spring of 2019
WEYBURN – Throughout the spring and summer, the City of Weyburn has been busy with major construction along Government Rd. At the regular meeting of Weyburn City Council on Aug. 27, an update was given on this project.
All underground infrastructures along Government Rd., from First Ave. NE to Coteau Ave., have been renewed. This involved the replacement of all values, sewer and water connections and 10” water main.
Pressure testing has been completed and temporary asphalt patching of trenches is to be completed by October to allow citizens access throughout the winter. The road will open for local traffic only during the building of the base and subbase courses.
The paving contractor, ASL Paving out of Regina, Sask., has advised the best practice is to let the temporary asphalt settle over the winter months and return in May 2019 for milling and final paving for this stretch of road.
The approximate total cost for project is $1,050,000. This project is partially funded by the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund, a bilateral funding agreement between the governments of Canada and Saskatchewan.
