The City of Weyburn will observe a recently declared federal Day of Mourning by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Sept. 19, to honour Queen Elizabeth II on the day of her state funeral.
The following locations will be closed to the public on Sept. 19:
- City Hall
- Public Works
Garbage collection on Sept. 19 for Area 3 will be affected by this statutory holiday and the rollover system will apply. Both Area 3 and 4 will be collected on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
The following facilities will remain open to the public and scheduled programming will not be affected:
- Credit Union Spark Centre
- Weyburn Art Gallery
- Weyburn Leisure Centre
- Crescent Point Place
- Tom Zandee Arena
- Weyburn Landfill
A Day of Mourning will be observed as a statutory holiday for City employees pursuant to collective agreements with the City of Weyburn. This includes Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Weyburn Professional Fire Fighters Association and out-of-scope employees.
