Next step in City’s Downtown Revitalization Project includes open house and public survey
The City of Weyburn is inviting the public to attend a Downtown Revitalization open house on Friday, May 9, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at City Hall.
This drop-in event will showcase the draft conceptual plans to revitalize Weyburn’s Downtown Core. Residents will be able to view conceptual streetscape plans, speak with project team members, and participate in a public survey that will help guide the final Downtown Master Plan.
“This is an exciting stage of the project. It’s a chance to share the concept shaped by last year’s stakeholder input and show the community what’s being proposed as a long-term plan for future downtown revitalization,” said City of Weyburn Director of Engineering Renee Cugnet.
The goals of the Downtown Revitalization Master Plan are to increase economic activity and improve the vitality of the area. The conceptual plans include wider sidewalks, green spaces, public art, curb extensions, safe pedestrian connections and spaces for events and sidewalk patios.
Feedback collected during the open house and online survey marks the final phase of public engagement as the City and its planners — Crosby Hanna & Associates, 1080 Architecture, and Associated Engineering — move toward finalizing the Downtown Revitalization Master Plan.
The final streetscape plans and report are expected later this month, with City approval to follow.
Partners in the project include Weyburn Regional Economic Development and the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce.
The survey and draft conceptual plan will be available in-person during the open house and online following the event at weyburn.ca/engage.
