New LED street lights installed downtown will help significantly reduce the City of Weyburn’s energy consumption
WEYBURN – The City of Weyburn has modernized some of its main corridors by installing 20 new light-emitting diodes (LED) street lights and four new traffic lights in the downtown core.
Functionality and safety concerns prompted the city to remove the former light standards. In addition, LED lights are 40 to 60 per cent more efficient than traditional lights; this will help reduce the city’s energy consumption by around 50 per cent while lowering maintenance costs.
Temporary holiday decorations are to be set up after the installation of new light standards at the intersection of 3rd St. and Souris Ave. is complete. The city is unable to display some of the previous decorations due the configuration of the new traffic lights.
The City of Weyburn would like to thank the public for its cooperation during this project.
