2021 census collection beings May 3 - Weyburn, Saskatchewan

The City of Weyburn is a proud supporter of the 2021 Census and encourages all its residents to complete their census questionnaire to provide data that supports programs and services that benefit the community.

Census collection will begin on May 3, 2021. Statistics Canada has adapted the collection process to ensure that all Canadians and our employees remain safe while participating in this vital national exercise. Completing the census questionnaire online is the best and fastest way to fulfill the census obligation.

Census data are critical to decision makers like the Weyburn City Council. Census data inform public policy and supports numerous municipal programs related to infrastructure, family services and employment.

This data can also help organizations working to improve our lives and make an evidence-based case for change.

JOB AND TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

Job, employment and commuting data can help your community build up its workforce, enticing workers with the right qualifications to bring their skills to businesses in need of their talents.

Age, education and employment data can help identify the need for job creation and new postsecondary programs, such as trades training.

STUDENTS

Student loan funding is often a combination of federal and provincial money, and household income information helps determine who qualifies.

Generally, a student with a household income under $140,000 qualifies for support.

AGRICULTURE

The Census of Agriculture is conducted at the same time and collects information about every agricultural operation in Canada.

The next Census of Population and Census of Agriculture will take place in May 2021. Census Day is May 11, 2021.

COVID-19

In cases where a Statistics Canada census employee is sent to a dwelling for non-response follow-up, a new no-contact protocol will be followed.

These interviews will be physically-distanced and the census employee will be required to wear a mask, and follow all public health guidelines.
