April 28, 2023
Friday is National Day of Mourning, in honour of the more than 1,000 Canadian workers killed on the job.
At Monday’s Council meeting, Mayor Roy proclaimed April 28 as Day of Mourning in the City of Weyburn. It is a day to recognize the maximum service these workers have been forced to make in order to earn a living.
On Friday evening, a candlelight ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. at Tommy Douglas Centre to honour the 39 workers killed in Saskatchewan in 2022.
