Updated August 21
The City of Weyburn regrets to announce the extended closure of its outdoor pool for the remainder of the summer season, following a mechanical issue that was identified on Saturday, Aug. 19.
After thorough assessment, it has been determined that the necessary repairs cannot be completed in time to allow for the pool’s reopening this season.
The decision to maintain the closure of the outdoor pool closed was not made lightly. The safety and enjoyment of patrons remains the City’s top priority and it is essential all necessary repairs and maintenance are completed prior to reopening.
“We understand the disappointment this news brings to our valued users and community members who look forward to spending time in our outdoor pool during the summer months,” said Andrew Crowe, director of Parks and Leisure Services
“We apologize for any inconvenience this closure may cause and appreciate the understanding of our community as our staff put their focus towards opening the indoor pool for the fall and winter season.”
The WLC indoor pool is slated to open Sept. 11, following the two-week annual maintenance period announced by the City early this month. City staff will be cleaning and updating the indoor pool to provide patrons with the best possible aquatic experience upon reopening.
