Weyburn— The City of Weyburn is pleased to announce the official swearing-in of its new Police Chief on September 5, 2024. The ceremony will take place at City Hall outside Council Chambers at noon. This event marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Weyburn Police Service, as Interim Police Chief Brent VanDeSype, who will officially assume the role of Police Chief on September 1, steps into his permanent position.
VanDeSype, who has been serving as Interim Police Chief, brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the position. His transition from interim to permanent Police Chief reflects the City’s confidence in his ability to lead the Weyburn Police Service effectively.
Ron McCormick of the Weyburn Police Commission expressed his confidence in VanDeSype, stating, “We are thrilled to have Interim Police Chief VanDeSype step into the role of Weyburn Police Chief. His leadership during his time as Deputy Police Chief and Interim Police Chief has been outstanding, and we are confident that he will continue to strengthen the Weyburn Police Service.”
The City of Weyburn invites all residents and media representatives to attend the swearing-in ceremony and join in welcoming the new Police Chief.
