Weyburn-The City of Weyburn is pleased to announce the official swearing-in of Shane St. John as the new Deputy Police Chief on October 10, 2024. The ceremony will take place at 9 AM outside Council Chambers at City Hall.
St. John’s appointment marks a significant step in the ongoing leadership of the Weyburn Police Service. Chief of Police Brent VanDeSype, praised St. John’s promotion, stating, “Shane St. John has shown exceptional leadership and commitment throughout his career with the Weyburn Police Service. I have full confidence that, as Deputy Chief, his leadership will play a pivotal role in strengthening our team’s efforts to ensure a safe and secure community for all.”
In addition to the swearing-in of Deputy Chief St. John, Councillor Laura Morrissette will be officially sworn in as the newest member of the Weyburn Police Commission during the ceremony. Councillor Morrissette’s appointment will further strengthen the Commission’s oversight of police operations and strategic direction.
The City of Weyburn invites residents and media representatives to attend the ceremony and welcome both Shane St. John and Councillor Laura Morrissette into their new roles within the Weyburn Police Service.
