The following is a statement from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Weyburn regarding the future of their After School Program at the Credit Union Spark Centre:
This pilot After School Program has been a meaningful opportunity to support young people in our community, and we are incredibly proud of the impact it has had. Unfortunately, after careful consideration, we have determined that the program is not sustainable long-term and will not continue in the fall of 2025.
We understand that this may be disappointing news, and we share in that sadness. However, our commitment to young people remains as strong as ever. Since 1981, we have been offering life-changing mentoring programs in Weyburn, and we will continue to provide our In-School Mentoring Program, Community-Based Mentoring, and Group Mentoring Programs to support and empower young people in our community.
The City of Weyburn extends its gratitude to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Weyburn for their dedication to supporting children and youth in Weyburn. While the City shares in the disappointment that the program will not continue, they recognize the positive impact it has had on our community. The City values the longstanding commitment of BBBS to mentoring young people, looks forward to continued collaboration in the future, and encourages Weyburn families to take advantage of other wonderful initiatives offered by BBBS.
