Updated Sept. 12, 2025
Paving is underway on Highway 35 North and King St. as the Urban Highway Connector Program project reaches its final phase.
Crews began at the north end of Hwy 35 and will advance south to 1st Avenue NE. By early October, 2.4 km of new asphalt (0.7 km King St., 1.7 km Hwy 35 N) is expected to be open, subject to weather conditions.
The City of Weyburn extends its appreciation to residents along the corridor, all motorists, and especially the neighbouring organizations for their patience, cooperation, and partnership throughout construction.
Updated Sept. 2, 2025
As Weyburn schools welcome students and staff back, this is a reminder to respect the King St. construction work zone.
Trespassing or cutting through puts you at risk of injury, creates dangerous situations for workers, and causes project delays that affect the entire community.
The City of Weyburn appreciates the community’s patience as work continues. Due to weather, infrastructure challenges, and contractor scheduling, the project has been extended. A confirmed date will be shared once available.
Please follow posted signage, respect closures, and avoid parking on private property such as the Southeast College or Weyburn Comprehensive School parking lots. These measures keep students, families, workers, and motorists safe while helping the project move forward for everyone.

King Street Closure and School Safety
With school resuming next week, safety in the King St. construction zone is our highest priority. This is an active worksite, and entering or cutting through the closure is both unsafe and against the law. Anyone found inside the work zone will be subject to enforcement, including tickets for trespassing.
Tampering with the work zone will not only put crews at risk, but will also cause project delays that affect the entire community.
The City is asking the public to respect the closures and follow all posted signage. Unauthorized parking or entry on private property near Weyburn Comprehensive School or Southeast College may result in towing at the owner’s expense.
These rules are not suggestions—they are in place to protect students, families, workers, and motorists. Respecting them ensures construction can progress safely and that everyone in the community remains protected as we head into the new school year.
