In the early afternoon of March 11, 2026, The Weyburn Police Service received information that Brandon Hendershot was in a residence in the 800 block of 5th Street North.
The Weyburn Police Service had been investigating to determine the whereabouts of Brandon Hendershot over the past 6 months. Police attended to the residence and upon arrival received concerning information regarding Hendershot that led to significant concerns to the public’s safety. As a result of this information being received the area was immediately secured and a critical incident response was initiated by the Weyburn Police Service.
The Weyburn Police Service engaged in a joint operation with the Estevan Police Service, involving Patrol members, JTST (Joint Tactical Support Team), and police negotiators.
After approximately five hours of communication with Hendershot, he exited the residence and surrendered peacefully to police.
Hendershot had outstanding arrest warrants from Nova Scotia, which were approved to be extended to Saskatchewan. Hendershot is currently facing the following charges out of Nova Scotia:
- Five counts of S. 271(1) CC – Sexual Assault
- Two counts of S. 151 CC – Sexual Interference
- Two counts of S. 152 CC – Invitation to Sexual Touching
- 145(1) – Fail to Appear in Court
Brandon Hendershot is currently being held in custody to be remanded and will be transported to to appear in Nova Scotia Provincial Court.
The Weyburn Police Service would like to thank the citizens of Weyburn for their patience and cooperation during this incident, as well as the members of the Weyburn and Estevan Police Services for their quick and professional response.

WPS has cancelled the dangerous person alert for Weyburn area at 9:20 p.m.
An adult male was taken into custody without incident and there is no further danger to the public.

Weyburn Police Service have issued a public alert for a dangerous person and are conducting an active police operation in the 800 block of 5th St. North.
- Public must stay away from the area.
- Motorists and pedestrians are asked to find another route.
Instructions
- Residents in the area are to lock their doors and shelter in place, unless otherwise directed by police.
- Do not disclose police location.
- Follow directions from local authorities and monitor local radio stations, Weyburn Alerts, Sask Alert app or City website for updates.
