Saskatchewan Health Authority has shared health and safety resources for residents and businesses affected by flooding.
Floodwater can contain sewage, chemicals, debris and other contaminants, while flooded buildings may also have electrical, gas, structural and mould-related hazards. Residents are encouraged to take precautions when returning to affected areas and beginning cleanup.
During cleanup, residents should avoid contact with floodwater and contaminated materials where possible and use appropriate protective equipment, including waterproof boots, gloves and eye protection. Damp materials should be dried as quickly as possible, with drying beginning within 48 hours where possible to help prevent mould growth.
