The City of Weyburn has received a petition requesting a referendum related to the City’s proposed aquatic facility project.
Under The Cities Act, the City Clerk is responsible for reviewing the petition and determining whether it meets the legislative requirements established by the Province.
Within 30 days of the petition being filed, the City Clerk will report to Council on whether the petition is sufficient or insufficient. Section 109 of The Cities Act sets out this review and reporting requirement, while Section 110 outlines Council’s responsibilities if a petition for referendum is determined to be sufficient.
The City will provide an update following the City Clerk’s report to Council, including information on any next steps required under The Cities Act.
