In 1974, it was given consideration as a Canadian Engineering Landmark Monument. The reservoir was taken out of service in 1977 and was designated as a Municipal Heritage Property in 1987.
The Weyburn Water Tower is one of the only four remaining in the province at this time is located on 10th Ave. S, beside the TC Douglas Centre. Visible for miles in any direction, the water tower acts as a sentinel to those travelling to and from Weyburn.
