WEYBURN – From May 8-12, Weyburn residents, organizations and businesses are encouraged to help clean and improve their community during the City’s third annual weeklong cleanup campaign.
Wey-Clean Week was inspired by the City’s Environmental Resources Committee, with a purpose to encourage simple actions by Weyburn residents to tackle litter and properly dispose of waste to make the community a safer and more attractive place to live, play and work.
The City is highlighting different neighbourhoods each day of the week, using its garbage collection areas (visit www.weyburn.ca/refuse-collection for area map):
- May 8 – City crews focusing city-wide
- May 9 – Area 1
- May 10 – Area 2
- May 11 – Area 3, 4 & 5
- May 12 – Downtown
The City encourages families, neighbours, coworkers, recreation teams, school classes, etc., to tour the streets in an area of their choosing and pickup litter.
There are public garbage cans located in all city-owned parks. Goliath Disposal will also be setting up temporary roll off bins in each area to dispose of the garbage you collect.
Tag us on social media @cityofweyburn and #weycleanweek or #weyclean to show your community pride!
If a local organization or business is interested in participating as a small group, please contact the engineering department for more details at (306) 848-3221. Pickup at city hall of garbage bags and gloves can be arranged by contacting the engineering department.
