Weyburn Fire Department is reminding residents to use extra caution as fire risk in the community continues to be assessed.
This is an advisory only. A fire ban is not currently in place for the City of Weyburn. WFD is monitoring local conditions closely, including wind, weather forecasts, fire danger levels and activity in surrounding areas.
Fire bans are put in place when wildfire risk is high and there is a need to reduce the chance of human-caused fires. While conditions in the City are currently cooler and greener spring vegetation, residents are still asked to use extra caution.
Please do your part to reduce fire risk:
• Never leave a fire unattended
• Keep fires small and fully contained
• Fully extinguish fires before leaving the area
• Avoid burning during strong winds
• Dispose of smoking materials safely
• Follow all local fire pit and open-air burning requirements
Rresidents are required to have a permit for outdoor fire pits within the City of Weyburn. More details: https://weyburn.ca/fire-department/
Campfires and backyard fire pits are only permitted when they meet City requirements and are used safely.
Fireworks are not permitted without proper authorization.
The City will continue to monitor conditions and will provide an update if restrictions become necessary.
