Update March 30, 2021 (7:45 a.m.)
City crews are out early this morning sanding the roads after a night of severe winds, snow, rain and freezing temperatures.
Crews are also working to restore traffic lights that are flashing red at a couple major intersections in the city:
- Government Rd. and 1st Ave. NE
- Government Rd. and Hwy 39
A reminder to drivers that intersections with flashing red lights out must be treated as four-way stops. Take due care and caution at railway crossings.
Please be cautious and give priority to city and emergency crews working on our streets and around our community today.
The Public Works department will continue to address priority trouble areas and streets in Weyburn throughout the day.

WEYBURN – City of Weyburn public works, parks, engineering and emergency staff are preparing for strong winds and hazardous winter conditions that are to effect the Weyburn region on March 29.
Environment Canada issued a wind warning and blowing snow advisory early Monday for the southeast Saskatchewan region: Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds.
City crews are preparing equipment and resources for the anticipated storm. As of Monday morning, landfill hours have been reduced, garbage pickup schedules have been adjusted, and additional staff has been deployed to assist in garbage pickup for Area 3 scheduled today.
To report any hazards caused by the storm, such as blocked roads due to debris, please contact the Public Works department at (306) 848-3290 during regular business hours or the on-call line at (306) 861-2163 after hours.
To report a power outage, please contact SaskPower online or 1-888-355-5589.
The safety of our staff and residents is paramount; City crews will address non-hazardous concerns when the high winds and visibility has cleared on Tuesday, March 30.
