Ever wonder what happens behind the scenes to keep a city moving?
The City of Weyburn is inviting residents to get an up-close look at the people, equipment, and operations that help keep the community running during the Public Works & Emergency Services Open House on Wednesday, May 20 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Public Works Fleet Storage Building, located at 55 16th St.
The open house gives residents an up-close look at the people, equipment, and services that help keep Weyburn operating safely and efficiently. From road maintenance and infrastructure work to emergency response and preparedness, the event highlights the essential work that often happens behind the scenes but impacts the community every day.
The event is being held during National Public Works Week, May 17 to 23, which recognizes the essential role public works professionals play in supporting safe, connected, and well-functioning communities. This year’s theme, “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community,” reflects the work that happens every day to maintain the infrastructure, services, and emergency response systems residents rely on.
The open house will feature:
- Public Works and Emergency Services equipment displays
- Interactive demonstrations and information booths
- Opportunities to speak with City staff
- Family-friendly activities
- Emergency preparedness information
- A chance to win a 72-hour emergency kit
Residents are encouraged to stop by, explore the facility, and learn more about the essential services that help support Weyburn year-round.
