The Weyburn Fire Department is recruiting new members to join its paid-on-call team for the 2027 recruit class.
WFD is seeking paid-on-call firefighters to support frontline fire and rescue operations, as well as paid-on-call auxiliary members who bring specialized skills to support the department in non-hazardous operational roles.
Paid-on-call members are employees of the City of Weyburn and are compensated for eligible emergency response, training and other department duties.
Positions Available
Paid-On-Call Firefighters
Six (6) Positions
Paid-on-call firefighters train to respond to a variety of emergency situations as part of WFD’s operational team. Duties may include fire suppression, motor vehicle collisions, rescue operations, wildland firefighting, medical assistance and other emergency response.
Members also participate in regular training, public education, station duties and the care and maintenance of firefighting vehicles and equipment.
Paid-On-Call Auxiliary Members
Two (2) Positions
and their individual skills or experience. These positions involve non-hazardous support work and may include equipment or vehicle operations, maintenance, training support, first aid and other duties within the member’s assigned scope.
Auxiliary positions generally have a lower training commitment than operational firefighter positions but are intended for individuals who can bring valuable skills or subject-matter expertise to the department.

WFD will host a Department Information Session on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Weyburn Fire Hall.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to attend to:
- learn about paid-on-call firefighting and auxiliary roles;
- meet members of the department;
- understand training and response expectations;
- learn about the recruitment and assessment process; and
- ask questions before applying.
Successful applicants will complete WFD’s recruit training program beginning in January 2027.
Training for operational firefighters includes Wednesday evening sessions and every other weekend as recruits develop the knowledge and practical skills required to safely participate in emergency response.
